Job description
The Audience Engagement Manager will join the +972 team and play a central role in increasing the reach of our cutting-edge journalism during a critical time in Israel-Palestine. They will be responsible for leading our distribution strategies (through social media, newsletters, podcasts, webinars, and more), increasing our readership, deepening our relationship with our readers and members, and for increasing reader-revenues through our membership program.

This is a full time position that derives from our deep commitment to political and social change, and the understanding that smart outreach strategies are key drivers of impact for the stories we publish at +972. This will be our site’s first ever audience engagement manager, and we are therefore looking for a thoughtful and innovative team player who has the passion and ability to take our outreach to the next level.

Responsibilities
* Developing and executing a comprehensive digital audience engagement communication strategy for +972, with the dual aims of growing our reach and deepening the engagement of our existing audience;
* Managing and moderating +972’s pages on social media, and setting up new social media channels and pages;
* Developing and executing a strategy for membership programs and fundraising campaigns;
* Supporting and improving our email and newsletter strategy;
* Organizing online events for member and nonmember communities;
* Creating text, video, and audio content for our digital presence;
* Conducting social media audits and regular analysis on social media engagement, membership revenue, and ad performance, and producing reports that capture performance, trends, lessons learned, and opportunities/challenges, as well as aligning communications and social media strategies with the organizational goals;
* Working as a part of the editorial team on a day-to-day basis and participating in weekly editorial meetings.

Required skills and qualifications
* At least 3 years of experience in managing audience engagement, including a track record in managing professional social media platforms and newsletters, preferably for a media outlet. Experience in online crowdfunding and membership programs — a plus;
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Ability to write and edit persuasive online content for a variety of audiences and platforms;
* Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe suite, or the likes;
* Close familiarity with the political landscape of Israel-Palestine. Must be a news/politics buff;
* Ability to work under pressure, especially in breaking news situations, and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
* A commitment to the core values of the site: fair journalism, equity, justice, and an end to occupation and apartheid;
* Efficient time and workload management skills;
* A resilient and flexible team player who is a fast learner, can handle a fast paced, highly collaborative team culture;
* Residency in Israel-Palestine — a plus;
* Experience in podcasting, audio and/or video editing — a plus.

Language requirements
English: mother-tongue or equivalent;
Hebrew and/or Arabic: fluency — a plus.

Most of the work is done remotely. Work in our Tel Aviv-Jaffa or Haifa offices is optional;
